Hi, I'm Avishek Bhattacharjee!
I am a Research Scientist at MTX Group Inc. working on problems in the field of Computer Vision and Deep Learning.
I completed my Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering from Netaji Subhash Engineering College, affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, India. During my undergrad, I was opportune enough to collaborate with Prof. Pabitra Mitra of Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where I worked on real-world Natural Language Processing problems. My work there, in collaboration with Prof. Indrajit Dube of Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law at IIT Kharagpur, was instrumental in starting off a project to design a search engine for "Legal Documents."
Before joining MTX Group, I spent three and a half wonderful years as an MS (by Research) scholar, working under the guidance of Prof. Sukhendu Das, in charge of Visualization and Perception Laboratory at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, where I researched in the broad area of Face Recognition (FR), mainly focusing on Pose-Invariant FR, Makeup Invariant FR, and FR in Surveillance and Classroom scenarios.
Research Interests
I am broadly interested in the field of Computer Vision and Deep Learning. I particularly like to research novel and efficient Deep Learning models for Visual Scene Understanding, applying Domain Adaptation & Transfer Learning techniques into the framework, to develop systems that require minimal or no supervision and also generalize well in real and diverse scenarios. My future research plans include working on multimodal data. I believe that effective understanding of the complex relationships between various modes of correlated data would help to elevate the comprehension capabilities of machines to humans in real-world scenes.
